The Banana Industrial Research and Development Centre (BIRDC) exists to provide   a     state-of-the-Art banana processing enterprise in Uganda. BIRDC is the successor entity of the Presidential Initiative Of Banana Industrial Development (PIBID) Project.

Terms of reference; Registered Engineer

Job skills and specification

• Experience and Exposure in the field of Construction Management, Civil Engineering, design and documentation and projects Management.
• Able to lead, coach, oversee, manage or facilitate in the department.
• Is visionary, trustworthy, and innovative with high energy level.
• Works effectively with people from all backgrounds.
• Good organizational management and interpersonal skills.
• High level of integrity and good character.
• Should be familiar with Microsoft office and excel packages and any other software relevant to engineering designs and practice.

Qualification & Experience Requirement.

• Bachelors’ degree in Civil Engineering, Building Services or Construction Management with minimum 3 years’ managerial experience. Master of Science Degree or any other higher qualifications in engineering related disciplines are an added advantage.
• Must possess at least a diploma in Business Administration.
• Should be not less than 35years and not more than 50years of age.
• Must be registered with Uganda Engineers Registration Board (ERB) and in good standing.
• Must be a member of Uganda Institute of Professional Engineers (UIPE) and in good standing.

Terms of reference; Senior Engineer

Job skills and specifications

• A Bachelors’ degree with a bias in water management.
• At least 7 years’ experience
• Must be a member of the UIPE
• Other related qualifications will be an added advantage.
• Must not be older than 35 years.

Terms of reference; Risk Officer

Job skills and specifications

A Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management or other related field, such as Business Administration, Economics, Law or Finance is typically required for this position.

Relevant work experience in a related field may also be beneficial.

• The Risk Officer supports the Risk Manager in analyzing the risks associated with various operations and practices within the BIRDC.
• Supporting the development and implementation of risk management strategies.

• Collecting and maintaining data and information related to risks, hazards, and insurance claims.
• Helps with the identification of potential hazards or risks and proposes preventative measures.
• Supports the Risk Manager in helping departments to identify potential hazards or risks and propose preventative measures.
• Assists the Risk Manager to collaborate with other departments to provide advice and guidance on risk-related issues.

• Assists in the Coordination with external vendors and service providers to ensure appropriate insurance coverage for the organization.
• Assisting in developing training programs for employees to increase their understanding of risk management processes.
• Assisting in Monitoring compliance with established risk management policies and procedures.
• Assisting in the Maintenance of accurate and up-to-date records related to risk management activities.
